oslo opera house construction

Snohetta makes beautiful buildings.  Anyone who makes buildings with roofs you can walk up onto should be given a license to build!  They are architects from Norway who recently finished the exquisite opera house in Oslo.  You can watch it being built, over the seasons, between high and low tides, here.

Here’s a gallery of photos.

From the website –

Rising from the waters of the fjord, the new opera house in Oslo, with its angular roof surfaces, is more like part of the landscape than a classical building for the arts. With the idea of a roofscape accessible to all, Snøhetta won the international competition for the design of the new Norwegian State Opera in 2000. The team of architects and landscape architects from Oslo has also created a new public realm.
