german silence is better than french silence

Glenn Gould introducing the brilliant German reductionist artist Karlheinz Klopweisser for a CBC show Voyage to the Void – fact or fiction?  Either way hard to believe – apparently German silence is better than French silence!

Klopweisser speaks –

” I am convinced that my work which is concerned with the resonance of silence.  But more with German silence which is of course organic as opposed to French silence which is ornamental.”
